Great Seal of Massachusetts Bay Company is adopted in England.
1629
The seal includes the company’s name in Latin surrounding the image of a nearly naked Indians asking (in English), “Come Over and Help Us.” The words are taken from Acts 16:9, in which the Apostle Paul, in a vision, is asked by a man to “Come over into Macedonia, and help us.” The current seal, which is based on the original is designed by Edmund Garrett in 1898.
